6 months

No stats yet. I am spacing out his vaccines with extra appointments so he won't have a 6 month check up until the middle of this month. I can tell he is longer because I had to stand farther away to get a full body photo.
Still no teeth although his gums are swollen. He has tried rice cereal, applesauce, banana and carrots. Can't say he loves any of the above. He is nursing 5 times during the day and sleeping about 12 hours at night.
He is not phased by much. He is so delightful. His older brothers love that he is more interactive. Since the 5 month update he is really reaching for things. He loves grabbing anything he can get his hands on. This definitely includes my hair. Ouch!
He loves rolling on his belly and grabbing anything on sight.

In a Box

Ryan is not yet sitting up on his own, but I have a this feeling that he wishes he could. If I lay him down somewhat reclined so he can "play" with something, he is constantly doing crunches and looking around to see what he is missing. If I lay him flat on his back its only a matter of minutes before he is on his tummy with his head held high.
I don't blame him, he can't really do much with his hands while he is laying down. So, today I got an idea to help him sit on his own. Yes, I could buy a bumbo seat, but the other 2 boys survived without one seems silly to buy one now. So I stuck him in one of our toy bins. It's the perfect size. His feet reach the other end with his legs completely straight. He loved looking around and holding his own toys. Ah, if only he would be happy like this for a few months :)
Thankfully it didn't occur to the older 2 that they could push him around. Next time I might not be as lucky.

Loud and Clear

We had a great time last weekend. Can't believe it's already Thursday. My pictures turned out so bad (still broken) and I haven't been inspired to just write about the weekend. It was so nice to see family. I still want to blog some highlights.
Owen came home early yesterday. His stomach was still bothering him. He had some potty issues this morning so I kept him home today. Of course now he seems fine.
Funny that within a few weeks of school it feels strange to have him home. He doesn't know the routine and Mason isn't used to sharing his space. I loved having him home yesterday for lunch. I feel more whole when they are all together. Probably won't be saying that in a few hours. Oh my fickle heart.
Owen read a book out loud this morning on his own accord. I thought he was reading to Mason (I was in the kitchen just listening with a huge grin on my face) but it turns out Mason was "looking at a different book. Doesn't matter, Owen was quite proud of himself and even read it for me again! I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. He can totally do it, but it usually takes some twisting of his arms. I have been waiting for him to realize I don't have to be there. I just want him to pick up a book b/c he wants too. Oh and he is reading road signs like crazy. I never noticed how sketchy the billboards can be. Especially through Philly.

Really?!?

Apparently it is possible to ruin 2 air mattresses in one night. One with vomit the other with pee. Okay so they weren't truly ruined, but in the middle of the night it seems that way. It's also possible to do two loads of laundry within the first 10 hours of arriving at Mim's house. 8 of those hours we should have been sleeping.
Yep, we arrived at 9 last night only to be awakened at midnight by Owen with complaints of a stomachache. EJ took the 12-3 shift and I took the 3-6 shift. At 5 a.m. I was pulling sheets off the other air mattress b/c Mason's pull-up leaked. Lovely.
It was quite the party.
Owen seems to be doing better. He hasn't thrown up since 10 this morning although as had very little to drink and nothing to eat.
Just praying no one else catches whatever it is. The big 90th birthday bash is tomorrow.
