So Big

Speaking of big! Please... where did my baby go. He has a neck and everything. Oh, he is loosing his chub. It must be ALL that running around.

This was all him. I love when he gets focused on one thing.

King of the Couch

I had to take a picture of Mason playing on the couch. He thinks he is soooo cool up there. He loves to be put up on the couch. He grins everytime as if to say "look at me, I am so big"

Painting

The painting is going well, but so slowly. If we didn't have to paint the darn moulding 3 coats we'd surely be done by now. The walls are an ivory color. I say that b/c its not a yellowish cream rather more from the taupe lineage. Can you tell I took a whole semester of color theory in college? With a strange art professor terrified of lighting storms.
The walls were originally a light yellow. The outcome isn't too dramatic. In Owen's words "why did you want a plain color, mama? Don't you want blue and red?"
The moulding looks great in white.

Happy 7th Birthday Rebekah!

We hope you've had a great day! Enjoy your first week of school!

Owens New Toy

Owen used some piggy bank money to buy a fishing rod yesterday and has been practicing his casting today. He is actually getting good...some water might be nice.

3 day weekend

I have slowly been planning/creating a master bedroom makeover. For those of you who know me well, I enjoy the planning part almost more than the end result. How long did I plan the kitchen, 6 months at least. Ej can't imagine why anyone would want to search for a duvet cover every night online for 2 months. But it has been purchased after great patience and a great sale. So last night we decided that we will try and paint the room this weekend! You'll also discover I LOVE to paint. Mostly b/c the end result means clean walls, baseboards and windows plus a new look. I can hardly wait. I know what you are thinking, Crazy!
I also realized this is the weekend we moved to our house 3 years ago. How fitting to be doing another project? Wish us luck we only had 1 child back then. This will be interesting working around the boys. Pics to come soon!

EJs first mobile post

This is going to be cool I can post to Ali's blog any time I want from my phone. Watch out Ali. This is just a cool pic I wanted to include.

Obviously

I may have to go public with this blog soon. I am clearly not having a problem with a lack of entries. EJ wanted me to test it out first. Maybe its saving Ej's ear :)

Surprise Visitors

Tonight Ej and Owen were suppose to meet my parents at the Richmond Braves baseball game. Unfortunately after my parents drove an hour, the game was called off due to the heavy rains we had all day. So they picked up dinner and came to our house. Mason and I lucked out b/c we wouldn't have seen them otherwise. We had a nice visit. Thanks for coming!

Indoor play

My visit with Catherine was great. We only had about 45 mins together which was sad, but better than nothing. The boys did great while we chatted. After she left the morning dragged on. It stopped raining long enough to go jump in a few puddles but then the thunder started so we had to go back inside. I was desperate for a new activity so I brought the toy tool bench up from the basement. I love hiding toys away and bringing them back out. It is like a new toy all over again. The boys had fun together. Mason mostly watched and tried to eat the screws and bolts!

It's raining, it's pouring!

Hooray for the rain. It has been raining nonstop since yesterday morning and boy are we excited. We haven't seen rain for months. Mason actually looked confused while we were walking to our car.

Last night's party actually happened but not as originally planned. We were suppose to host a dessert for our friend Brian who is raising support to go on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The guest list dwindled to 2 husbands and 1 couple. Then the night before dwindled to 2 husbands. So we decided at the last minute to move the time earlier and have pizza so at least the family of one husbands could come along. It was the most interrupted support raising talk I've seen. Brian (who doesn't have any children yet) did a great job going with the flow. The kids really had fun too!

This morning we are waiting for a college friend of mine, Catherine, to come over. She just called to say her son has a fever and but she is able to leave him with his Aunt. She is visiting from out of town and I haven't seen her in 2 years. Owen is disappointed not to have a new playmate. We'll see how this works out.

Perfect timing

Today my mom came for a visit. She was missing her boys! She came with us to the library and then we had a nice lunch at Panera (Owen's pick). Right before we left for the library, I got a return phone call from a Dentist who specializes in TMJ (jaw pain). (I have had for several years and it continues to get worse.) He is a retired dentist and works on his own schedule and he wanted to know when I could come in. He agreed to see me today at 1! I was shocked, God is so good to set up such perfect timing with my mom already in town. She graciously stayed home with the kids. The Dr. was so kind and spent almost 45 mins. discussing and illustrating how the jaw and surrounding muscles work. It was quite interesting, he even pulled out a published textbook that he wrote. I have never received such well explained information from a doctor before. Long story short, he says its mostly a muscle pain and recommends 5 sessions of PT to relax the tension in my face and neck muscles. Who knew! At least no surgery or special soft diet! Pray that it helps.

Now we are gearing up for 2 dessert parties. One tomorrow and one on Friday! I just made a sinful german choc upside down cake. Delicious!

Crazy Morning

So we've had a very eventful 2 days. Yesterday we said goodbye to Mim and Jill. Then Mason got his 3rd haircut (yes, he is only 15 months). Poor thing, his hair is so straight that it never looks great. The lady did do a nice job especially considering he moved around so much. Then we ran some errands. Stopped at McDonalds for a quick lunch.
As I was waiting for our food and feeling guilty that I was buying such junk for my children a man approached me and asked if that was my van in the parking lot. Never a good sign. Sure enough he witnessed the man standing behind him, hit our van and then move his truck to another spot. He was kind enough to come find me and turn the guy in. He even gave me his name and phone number incase I needed it later. So I drag my hungry and tired boys outside in the heat to deal with the damage. I have never had to do this before so I was totally paniced that I'd forget something. (Police don't come to parking lot incidences and EJ was unavailable to the phone) I did manage to hold it together until we were back inside and the boys were eating. Then after spilling Mason's milk over much of our lunch the tears started to flow. Several moms helped attend to me and I finally got through to EJ. His kind and reassuring words helped me to relax and calm down. It seems that the guy's insurance is going to take care of the repairs but I am sure it will be a hassle. Thankfully no one was hurt!

Playground

A little playground time with Aunt Jill. They leave tomorrow for their 20 hr drive. We'll miss them.

Date night

We had a nice time on our date. The party wasn't as good as it has been in the past. Although Ej did manage pick his share of crabs. I went for the shrimp instead. It was a lovely night to be outside and 4 other couples we know joined us. We did spend a good bit of time mocking those dancing. I guess the Electric Slide and Macarena are still being played. Who knew!

Mim and Aunt Jill visit

EJ's mom and sister are in town for the weekend. They are on their way to Houston. Jill is moving there. What is with Texas? I am losing so many to that Big state. Anyway, the boys are enjoying them. Jill, Ej and Owen playing a little baseball while Mim had Mason all to herself. Tonight EJ and I are going OUT! I am so excited. We have our annual "Summer Survivor" pool party. Several other couples that go to our church and our pool will be there too. Adult converstation and eating at my own pace with no interuptions. Wow! Can I do it? Hopefully I'll get a pic of the two of us. It rarely happens.

Rockstar Owen

This is a normal activity in my household. There is no telling what type of musicial act we will have throughout our day. The PJs are a great wardrobe selection, don't you think?

Pearly whites

Last week Owen and I went to the dentist. His second trip and our appts were back to back time slots. This creates a whole new atmosphere for having my teeth clean. Nothing like a hygentist in your mouth and a 4 yr old right at the other side of your face watching everything! He did great when it was his turn. Cool sunglasses and everything.

Ahhh

So being at the pool from 4 -5 p.m. is the best. Especially when each of the boys is content to play by himself! Ahhhh. Of course its always a mad dash to get dinner on the table but who cares. We only have a few weeks left. The past two times we've been at the pool Mason has actually enjoyed being in the water. Usually he moans and groans until I pull him out. Then he wanders around picking up scraps of food off the ground. Yum! If he is not doing that he is begging at the feet of anyone eating. I promise I do feed him. Not that you can't tell by the size of his tummy. This kid will put anything in his mouth. Gross!

First Post

So I guess I am starting a blog. I said it wouldn't happen but I have caved in. I love reading about the life of my friends so I am hoping it works both ways. It is hard to believe this will be interesting to others but I'll do my best. I am hoping that the blog will force me to cherish and enjoy moments that might otherwise pass me by. The days have seemed to double in speed with the addition of Mason and I don't want to forget them. Bear with me, I am not a writer and I am often accussed of butchering the english language.
