Sissy's Shoes

I LOVE our laundry room! It's huge. It has changed since the last time I blogged about it. Last summer, I knew we needed to make some changes in our backpack, sports and coats zone. Our little 4 hooks were no longer cutting it. We also hoped we'd be adding another child to our team, which would add to the mess ;) So, out went the desk and all my storage for crafts (SAD) and in came the lockers. We love them! (from Ballards Design, on sale + shipping discount ;)

They don't usually look this tidy. This is a good day. It helps that the big bulky winter coats have been put away (YAY!). Some day the boxes on top will get a make-over, but for now they are essential for sports uniforms. They go from the dryer straight to the box and we (almost) always have uniforms ready to go.

 We have had one marked for Sugar Plum from the very beginning. 

Today, Ryan decided she needed shoes in hers ;) Be still my heart.

So we filled it up with all kinds of gifted/donated cuteness! 

This is only a few smaller sizes. There are plenty more for later ;)

Shoes Galore

I decided our shoe storage system (if you can even call it that) needed an overhaul. When Owen was the only child, I stored his old shoes with the size clothes he wore at that same time. Well, Mason came along with his wide foot and hardly worn any of the same shoes. If he did it was not at the same age. I eventually just started stuffing them in brown bags and putting them in the nursery closet. Now that Ryan has a foot similar in shape as Owen (but much smaller for his age) I need a better system.

The boys came up to look at our impressive collection.
Although I realize if we had 3 girls, the collection would probably be 3x bigger :)

My plan was to just dump them in a big bin, but then I realized I'd be right back where I started. It's not glamorous by any means but it did recycle some old boxes. For now they will stay in the nursery closet. At least until Ryan discovers them.

 

It feels so good to accomplish a small task.

5 Days, His Way - Wednesday

Each day this week, I will post a small blurb about that day's Way. I would love any ideas or suggestions you might have for us. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

My goal for Work Ethic Wednesdays are to use these five words: manners, diligence, discernment, self-control, and attitude.
 
If Tuesdays are their favorite, Wednesday is probably their least favorite. Because for "work ethic" it's clean your room day. Fun, huh?

I gave them the same check list each Wed.
I am teaching them to actually clean not just tidy up.
1. pick up toys
2. put away books
3. clean under bed
4. dust their own dresser and bedside table
5. swiffer hardwood and vacuum rug (they fight over those :)

This morning before school Owen said, today is clean our room day (in a depressed tone- not such a good attitude). Mason was still upstairs sleeping and didn't hear his comment.
Little does Owen know, a few elves cleaned his room while he was at school. Mason was home for a teacher work day and when he saw me cleaning Ryan's room he decided to do his own! Such a good opportunity for me to encourage him. And he is so excited to surprise Owen.
