1st Plane Ride

In February, we received an invitation to the wedding of a EJ's cousin, Jaime. The wedding was to be held in Old Lyme, CT. Most of EJ's family on his mother's side is spread out all over the US and one in Australia. So we decided it would be a perfect opportunity to see his extended family and introduce Mason (that's how infrequently we see them). Knowing that it would be a quick weekend and potentially a LONG car ride we decided to fly. It seemed the perfect "first time" flying experience for our boys. A quick 1 hour and 15 mins flight to LaGuardia, NY and a 2 hour drive to Old Lyme. What we didn't account for was a monstrous rain Storm over most of the North East. On the ground it seemed like a normal rainy day, but you would never have guessed it by the number of delayed and cancelled flights. Needless to say 5 hours in the tiny Richmond Airport, uncertain if we'd ever leave, was not the experience we were expecting. The boys were great troopers.

We arrived at the airport at 9:15 a.m. for our 10:00 flight.
At 11 we boarded.
At 11:30 we deboarded. (You can imagine the disappointment)
Every half hour until 3:15, we received the announcement, "we will have another update in 30 mins."
Everything for the rest of the day and next day was stand-by only. We thought we would have to pack in the whole trip.
At 3:05 they announced we were boarding at 3:15. CHEERS exploded!
We finally arrived at LaGuardia at 5 p.m. And then to drive a rental car in NY rush-hour!

1st time on plane, but going nowhere.

The boys LOVED the plane ride. They looked out the window (both heads at one) almost the entire flight. Mason didn't have his own seat, that was very interesting! I am so glad the flight wasn't any longer.
