Footloose and Fancy Free

We had a great time with Grandma and Sir.Sir sucked it up and ate lunch at McDonald's. Not sure he ever did that for me. Grandkids will do that to a man :)
Then we let the boys loose on the playground near their house.

The conference for Owen went great. The teacher had a lot of good things to say about him. I am so thankful he is doing well and behaving himself. Based on his recent behavior at home, I wasn't so sure what the report would be. Seems he saves his best for school. Isn't that always the case?
The teacher helped answer some questions I've had about homework. He is doing well and I think I need to loosen up a bit (I am not surprised). Perhaps knowing he is doing okay in the classroom will help ease my mind. Good grief, it's only Kindergarten!

New Tub

No school today!
EJ and I go to our first parent/teacher conference this morning.
Then rush home b/c the tub is being reglazed at 9.
Yes, folks the end is here. I should have pics tomorrow!
It's been done for awhile, but I couldn't quite capture it at its best with that blue tub.

Then after we vote, I am escaping with the boys to grandma's for the day.
Not sure I should be inhaling that glaze stuff.

Daily Inspiration

Every weekday around noon, while Mason and I are eating lunch, I see the same couple out for a walk. I smile every time I see them.
Here's why they inspire me:
They are an older couple, probably late 70s, getting exercise together and holding hands every day. Their tiny gestures show how their history together and how much they care for one another.
Here's why I laugh in my head:
She has fiery red hair and big black sunglasses and always carries her cell phone in her hand (despite her humongous coat pockets). Occasionally, I've seen her talking on it. When this happens they do not hold hands.
He is always carrying a travel mug of water and often hands it to her for a sip. But he always takes it back. After all, she has the cell phone.
Here's why I think, you crazy old people:
When ever I am in my car instead of at the lunch table, I realize they actually walk in the middle of the road. And then have the nerve to give me a dirty look when I slowly swerve around them.

Trick or Treat

Here we are. Batman, Robin, the Riddler and Cat Woman.
Ours weren't terribly exciting costumes, but we got the point across. Sadly, my tight black leather pants and halter top don't fit anymore :) And I think I am the first Cat Woman without heels. Who can really outrun Batman in heels, anyway? A little girl at Mayboory, on Friday night asked EJ if he was the "I don't know man." (The Riddler hasn't made a comeback in years, but the adults got it.)
We spent Halloween night at my parents. Our neighbors don't really participate (we found out last year) and we never get any kids at our house (can't blame them). So with Halloween on a Saturday, we decided to take full advantage of my parent's neighborhood. They get at least 100 kids at their door. Our kids had fun walking around, but not as much fun as they did handing out the candy. Mason really got into it. They got especially excited when other superheros came to the door. At one point Mason said, "bye Batman" and the little kid said, "I am not Batman, I am Aiden." Both boys totally confused each other.
Waiting for the next guest.

We think this nasty "gummy tongue" is to blame for the fact that Mason didn't fall asleep last night until after 1 a.m. WHAT ?!?!?! We tried EVERYTHING. I was beginning to wonder if someone injected a drug in his candy. He really only ate a few pieces at 7 p.m. He couldn't have had that much sugar. Owen didn't eat one and he seemed fine. UGH!

Busy Halloween Eve

Mom and Dad came to help babysit my cousin's kids who were in town for the day. We all had lunch together (EJ came home for lunch) and then Mom and I babysit for a little while. It was hard taking turns holding this little munchkin (6weeks).
Mason couldn't resist either.
EJ and I ran over to the Halloween parade at school. Owen's the batman.
When Owen got home we introduced Haleigh (2) to play-dough. Her parents were a bit apprehensive.
Owen's creationMason is content to play play-dough for the longest time. It's amazing!
Dad helped Mason carve his pumpkin. Owen carved his at a "pumpkin carving" party the weekend before.
Mason LOVED digging out the guts. Owen won't touch them with a 10 foot pole.
